See stress patterns
Use the polarised viewing arrangement to inspect visible stress patterns around mounting and contact points.
POLARISCOPE
Make mounting stress easier to see.
A compact optical polariscope for visual inspection of stress patterns in spectacle lenses. Place the lens on the lower stage and observe it through the upper polarising ring, adjusting the viewing ring as needed.
Confirm the supply version and plug type on your quotation.
Functions
Use the polarised viewing arrangement to inspect visible stress patterns around mounting and contact points.
The upper polarising ring can be adjusted while observing the lens on the lower stage.
A small white body and push-button illuminator make the viewer easy to position on an optical workshop bench.

POLARISED VIEWING

IN PRACTICE · MOUNTING STRESS
Position the mounted spectacle lens in the viewing area and look through the upper polariser to inspect stress around the mounting points.
When a lens is under stress, polarised light reveals optical interference patterns. The coloured fringes around the mounting points in this photograph help you spot areas of concentrated stress and assess the lens mounting.

Buyer’s guide
Use this model to observe lens stress patterns. Lens power, UV transmittance and photochromic response require other instruments.
Specify the required electrical version and plug type. The rear photo shows the 220 V / 50 Hz version.
The viewer provides a visual inspection. It does not display a numerical stress value or an automatic pass/fail decision.
No numerical stress readout is specified. This instrument is a visual polariscope.
A lensmeter measures optical power; a UV tester measures transmittance or UV response. The LY-15 is intended for viewing stress patterns.
