An automatic lensmeter is faster, removes operator variation and usually adds extras. A manual lensometer costs less, needs no software and keeps working when the electronics do not, but it needs a trained operator.<\/p><p>Busy shops and labs tend to use an automatic model every day and keep a manual one as a backup.
